Se siete temerari

…e avete un iMac con tastiera e mouse Bluetooth (e l’hard disk che non funziona): provate a fare il boot da cd. Provate, provate.

Perché non è che il fottuto mac si accorge di avere un fottuto cd in corpo e si pone la fottuta domanda “sarà il caso che faccia il boot da cd? chiedo? lo faccio e basta? Emetto un suono?”. No, bisogna premere il fottuto tasto “c”. Peccato che la altrettanto fottuta tastiera senza fili non funzioni al fottuto boot.

Ci sono veramente poche cose che mi irritano quanto un mac, e sono i testimoni di geova e i possessori di mac.

Dimenticavo: la serafica assistenza Apple, alle quattro di notte, ti risponderà subito per dirti 1) che è meglio che ti compri una tastiera col filo, 2) o altrimenti te la fai prestare da qualcuno - svegliando un amico alle 4 di notte, 3) sei vivamente invitato a comprare un piano di assistenza applecare che ti garantisce risposte idiote immediate notturne per almeno 3 anni.

Poi, nel tardo pomeriggio del giorno dopo, ti rechi nell’unico punto apple vicino e scopri che non hanno tastiere col filo. Solo bluetooth, il filo non tira più.

Mouse and Keyboard Are Not Detected When You Install Wireless Optical Desktop for Bluetooth:

SYMPTOMS
When you install the Wireless Optical Desktop for Bluetooth, the mouse and keyboard may not be detected.

CAUSE
This issue can occur for any of the following reasons:
• There was a problem enumerating or installing the Microsoft Bluetooth Transceiver (the Bluetooth device that plugs into the USB port)
• You do not have Windows XP Service Pack 1 installed (Microsoft Bluetooth is supported only by Windows XP Service Pack 1)
• There was a problem with the Bluetooth Stack
• Intellitype Pro 2.3 (for the Microsoft Bluetooth keyboard to work properly) and Intellipoint 4.9 (For the Microsoft Bluetooth mouse to work correctly) were not installed or there is a problem with them.

RESOLUTION
WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. To resolve this issue, remove the Bluetooth components, and then install the Wireless Optical Desktop for Bluetooth. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Unplug the transceiver.
2. Remove IntelliPoint version 4.9 and IntelliType Pro version 2.3:
a. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Add or Remove Programs.
b. Follow the on-screen instructions to remove the software, and then restart your computer.
3. Remove Windows XP Hotfix (SP2) for Bluetooth Wireless Devices. To do this, follow these steps:
a. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Add or Remove Programs.
b. Follow the directions on the screen to remove the software, and then restart your computer.

4. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.

Delete the following registry keys:

7. Reinstall the Bluetooth stack:
a. Put the Wireless Optical Desktop for Bluetooth CD in your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive, and then double-click My Computer.
b. Right-click the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive, and then click Explore.
c. Open the Prereq\BthStack\Enu folder.
d. Double-click Q323183_wxp_sp2_x86_enu.exe.
8. While your computer is in a clean-boot state, install the Wireless Optical Desktop for Bluetooth, IntelliPoint and IntelliType software.
9. Plug in your transceiver, restart your computer to the standard startup state, and then make sure that you have Bluetooth functionality.

Cioè non c’è qualcosa tipo il bios che ti consenta di scegliere l’ordine e i dispositivi di boot da cercare all’avvio?

Per scegliere il dispositivo da cui partire, puoi sempre tenere premuto “alt” all’avvio e poi scegliere da quale volume fare il boot. Puoi anche fare il boot da cd via “open firmware”, ma anche in questo caso, hai bisogno di una tastiera col filo, quindi niente.
Mi chiedo pero’, perche’ ti volevi comprare una tastiera apple, non va bene una qualsiasi tastiera usb?

Io non vi capisco voi maniaci del Bluetooth…
Non è che a comprare una tastiera con due fili in più (che costa pure meno) ci si perde qualcosa!

Apri l’Imac, scolleghi il cavo a fascetta dal disco e il computer (dovrebbe) avviarsi da cd-rom.

se ti serve una tastiera mac con il filo mandami una mail in ufficio credo di averne viste un paio. e anche un mouse.

Il motivo per il quale qualunque tastiera bluetooth sotto qualunque sistema operativo non funziona in avvio e’ che i driver bluetooth vengono caricati immediatamente DOPO il boot.
Ma vedo che lei e’ cosi’ fighetta da voler comprare, essendo gia’ possessore di tastiera bluetooth, una tastiera usb apple invece di una qualsiasi tastiera usb che funziona all’uopo.
Se ne faccia una ragione, e’ diventato come quelli che disprezza. :-)

Il problema non è la tastiera apple, che costa 29 euro (grazie pm, ne ho trovata una) ed è stranamente cheap per essere apple, il problema è che sull’imac non si può fare boot da disco senza avere una tastiera (col filo) attaccata, che è ridicolo. Su qualsiasi pc è possibile configurare l’ordine dei dispositivi di boot una volta per tutte (dischetto, cd, hard disk) e non si deve premere nessun tasto.

Poi, se avessi avuto una tastiera col filo per casa avrei usato quella, ma ho tutte tastiere wireless anche per i pc - ne ho dovuto comprare una per forza.

@stefano: le tastiere wireless sono di una comodità incredibile, specialmente se hai una scrivania come la mia che sembra una centrale nucleare.

mi spiace, ma io faccio boot da CD sull’ima e non ho nessun cavo. Infatti il firmware dell’iMac riconosce la tastiera bluetooth precedentemente configurata. L’unica cosa è che devi tenere schiacciato il tasto C da PRIMA DI ACCENDERE, così arriva il segnale nel momento giusto. Altrimenti parte il boot normale. Io ho installato Tiger da DVD, Ubuntu liveCD e altre robe senza dover in alcun modo modificare la configurazione!

Questa cosa me l’hanno detta anche quelli dell’Apple Center, però pare che valga solo per le macchine con BT integrato (e con il firmware aggiornatissimo). Per quelle con il dongle d-link, come la mia, non vale.

L’assistenza Mac non ha detto l’unica cosa davvero sensata (punto 1.1.56 par. 18 vol. 2 Manuale delle Soluzioni):
