Guantanamo: cosa ne pensano le organizzazioni umanitarie e per i diritti civili

Cosa ne pensa Human Rights Watch: [...]If the U.S. government persists in ignoring the requirements of international law in its treatment of the detainees at Guantanamo, much more will be harmed than the lives of those individuals. Hard fought gains in international law and protections for basic human rights will be undermined along with the rights of these detainees. The U.S. government should meet its legal obligations, establish a clear legal process, and resolve their cases without further delay. While those who have committed offenses should be charged, they must be given due process. If the U.S. government fails to provide for fair trials, the military commissions will produce verdicts that will not be seen as legitimate in the eyes of a world already deeply skeptical about the long-term detentions at Guantanamo.[...] Cosa ne pensa Amnesty International: [...]Despite a major international outcry and expert condemnation of US government policy, hundreds of people of around 40 different nationalities remain held without charge or trial at the US Naval Base in Guantánamo Bay in Cuba, without access to any court, legal counsel or family visits. Denied their rights under international law and held in conditions which may amount to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment, the detainees face severe psychological distress. The detainees have the right to challenge the legality of their detention in court. Cose già note, carissimo Carlo. cose già note.
La domanda, invece, che bisogna porsi a mio giudizio e se cambierà qualcosa con Kerry alla Casa Bianca.
Se cambierà qualcosa (in positivo, naturalmente), allora non resta altro che aspettare fino a novembre, nella speranza che i neocons vengano spediti definitivamente a casa, insieme al loro grande capo.

Pare evidente che di cosa ne pensano le suddette organizzazioni, come dire, freghi meno di zero. Se queste dichiarazioni fossero censurate mi preoccuperei di meno, devo dire: significherebbe che vien loro riconosciuto un minimo peso.

L’accanimento “contro” i neocons e’ come quello contro il totem-berlusconi: inutile e dannoso. Svia dal problema principale che e’ quello di due alternative allo stesso problema, risolvere le ingiustizie ed i pericoli di questa palla di fango. Il modo neocons ha una serie incredibile di limiti ed e’ eseguito nel modo peggiore immaginabile… ma di contro, fin quando gireremo in tondo a gridare “maledetti fascisti”, avremo perso tempo e non avremo trovato alternative, siano esse di sinistra, di centro, liberali, cattoliche o che altro.
