Quanta propaganda

Soldati iracheni sparano ai propri ufficiali e poi si arrendono. I bombardamenti vanno avanti, ma i missili sono talmente intelligenti che, a volte, finiscono in Iran. Armi di distruzione di massa e missili vietati ancora niente ma, dice Franks, si troveranno di sicuro. Lo credo anche io, se proprio non ci sono ne faranno venire un po' dagli USA o da Israele. Aspettiamoci un bel servizio della CNN.

Aggiornamento domenicale: ho sbagliato solo sul nome dell'emittente. Oggi Fox tv ha dato notizia della scoperta di un impianto per la produzione di armi chimiche. Dopo poche ore, la MSNBC ha rivelato che la notizia era falsa.

Noto un certo nervosismo. Ahi, ahi, ahi.

Gli Scud sono missili vietati, e sono stati usati dagli iracheni - che pure avevano sempre detto di essersene liberati.

Non è proprio sicuro. Io ho trovato anche questi:

Three days into the ground war, the U.S. military has found no chemical or biological weapons or Scud missiles — and neither has Iraq launched any Scuds.

Special forces have been operating in the western desert and in northern Kurdish areas. One of their first tasks has been to find and destroy Iraqi Scud missiles, 88 of which were launched during the Persian Gulf war 12 years ago, 39 against Israel.

U.S. special operations troops combing Iraq for Scud missiles and chemical or biological weapons have found none so far, a senior American military officer said Saturday.

Una cosa è che i militari non abbiano (finora) trovato depositi di Scud pronti per il lancio, una cosa è il fatto che degli specialisti in armamenti abbiano identificato con certezza dei rottami di Scud lanciati contro il Kuwait (assieme ai rottami di alcuni FROG, vecchi missili con gittata di 80 Km e quindi “legali”).

Sul fatto che degli Scud siano stati effettivamente lanciati (non solo durante il primo attacco) ormai le testimonianze sono concordi.

D’altra parte anche gli ispettori ONU negli anni passati avevano fatto rilevare che non era stato possibile verificare l’effettiva distruzione di un certo numero di Scud (loro parlavano di 25-30 missili, gli americani come al solito facevano la cresta e parlavano di 60-80 unità).

“Forse” il missile era iracheno.
